DRUM SEALER - MODEL 88
Making a continuous seal on a moving web can be convenient in a number of types of applications.
The Drum Sealer Model 88 is designed to address the need to produce a running seal between two
separate layers of film. By creating the seal over a drum, tension differentials that may adversely affect seal strength and quality are eliminated. The drum acts as a large roller keeping both film layers flat and in correct orientation during the sealing process. Applications for the model 88 include document pockets on shipping envelopes and some of the more complicated diaper bags.
The Model 88 can be used for a number of other applications. These range from edge seal and trim to produce tubing from sheeting, slit sealing, and header sealing. The unit can be produced for multiple lanes and with a variety of sealing configurations. For slit sealing, we produce a 1/8” wide seal that is slit using a heated razor assembly.
There are two sealing head configurations available. Unique to the PARK AIR product line is the Hot Bar contacting seal head over the drum. The seal head is pressed against the drum contacting a Teflon® belt that is driven by the film. This unit produces a high integrity seal at high speeds.
The second sealing configuration is Hot Air. This is a non-contacting sealing head using a unique approach to direct a stream of heated air onto the material. This unit is also driven by the web motion. With the Hot Air configuration, there is no pressure on the seal. This configuration is recommended for high density films. Both configurations can be supplied with a heated razor blade for slit sealing application. The blade holder includes a micro adjustment screw for accurate positioning.
The units are supplied complete and ready to position in-line. Installation requires electric power and compressed air. Each seal head is independently controlled and is complete with heaters, thermocouple, and all connections. The unit is pneumatically engaged upon film start and disengaged when the film stops. Various width seals can be quoted on request.
For light gauge films or multi-head operation, Park Air now offers an optional driven drum design. This motor driven drum is synchronized to the incoming web speed by way of an encoder. Driving the drum reduces stress on the film and seals insuring high quality sealed edges.
