HORIZONTAL ZIPPER ATTACHMENT - MODEL Z - 49 - HZ
Until now, zipper application in pouch bags has been an intermittent operating process. Park Air has
developed a version of the Z-4900 Zipper Attachment using patented sealing technology for application of profile while the web is moving. This is the preferred method for best product quality and consistent machinery operation.

Until now, zipper profile application to laminated and coextruded materials presented difficulties not found in polyethylene zipper bags. With these materials, it is necessary to shorten the film path through the applicator between the unwind and bag or pouch machine. The Model Z-49-HZ is oriented horizontally to the web path reducing the number of rollers in the machine direction.

The Z-49-HZ uses the same technology as our standard zipper. The sealing section is split to allow
profile placement in either the open or closed side of the product. The unit incorporates the profile
unwind and sealing into a single frame reducing floor space requirements. A dancer and driven nip
roller assembly control tension in the profile material.

Sealing bars are a composite of heater block and hardened insert for efficient heat transfer and long
life. Heat sinks are water cooled to set the seal and eliminate crystallization. The unit can be supplied for either string or flange profile styles.

Two options are available for “crimping” the profile at the side seal. For general use, an ultrasonic
sealer can be supplied. We also supply a heavy duty sealing unit with radiant seal bars for crimping
prior to the side seal units.
